Outlandish winter accessories we can't get enough of

Winter is the best season for accessories. The constant need to stay warm gives us the perfect excuse to go load our shopping baskets full at the accessory sections of our favourite stores. But which accessory styles are worth the investment this season? Liberty Belle has the full rundown...

The chunky scarf

The scarf is a winter staple we can rely on to pull together any look, even on the chilliest of days. But this year the accessory has had a major upgrade. The scarf memo this winter? The bigger, the better.

That’s right, skinny scarves are out and based on the accessory shelves of most high street and high-end fashion stores, scarves are making a bold statement this year. From bright green to patchwork neon, a colourful chunky scarf can take your dull winter assemblage from drab to fab.

Our favourite scarf looks can be found in Monki. Their vast selection of chunky knits and tassel scarves are a sure way to stand out this season.

Balaclavas

Scarves not enough to keep the cold off your face this winter? Don’t worry, the balaclava (a knitted garment to cover the entire face) ensures you can, literally, stay warm from head to toe this year.

In the past balaclavas have been reserved for stereotypical cartoon depictions of bank robbers. Still, the accessory began trending in the fashion realm earlier this year after trap artists like K trap and SL were credited for bringing the accessory to the forefront of modern fashion culture.

The balaclava is worn in various colours and styles but our favourite comes from The Ragged Priest (you can even get a sweater to match).

Fluffy earmuffs

A classic noughties throwback. The return of the earmuff naturally comes in tandem with the return of Y2K fashions. Worn recently by the biggest celebs (think Bella Hadid and Arianna Grande), the accessory makes a great alternative to a hat if you don’t want to mess up your winter hairstyle!

Shop faux fur earmuffs at Weekday!

Lace-up biker boots

Snow is forecast so it's time to retire the summer sneakers and get some practical (but stylish) shoes.

We recommend the lace-up biker boot. Not only are these boots extreme weather ready, but they look incredible too!
