With Christmas creeping up quickly it is time to get those last minute gifts in to give to

family and friends. Sheffield is home to so many fun and unique small businesses to consider buying from to support local people and show some Yorkshire pride.

From candles to calendars, original artwork to (the classic) Hendo’s, there is something for everyone. If you are stuck for what to buy for loved ones this festive season, consider shoppingsmall and supporting some of the following businesses.

Reyt Good Illustration

The Reyt Good Illustration 2023 calendar (£20) is the perfect gift for someone who likes

to stay organised. With each month featuring a Sheffield-themed illustration ranging from your favourite Arctic Monkeys lyrics to the view over Sheffield, it is a great way to get to see a new bit of Yorkshire every month.

If calendars aren’t your thing then have a browse of the beautifully illustrated tea towels,

tote bags, art prints and t-shirts that Reyt Good Illustration have to offer.

Annie Jude’s

Annie Jude’s Hillsborough store sells a myriad of goods from small local businesses to

browse and buy for loved ones.

While there are many great gifts to behold in store, the owner Faith’s cross-stitch kits are

a fantastic gift for any crafty and creative member of the family. While there are some

non-Yorkshire specific options available, the Be Reyt Hendo’s bottle would be a fabulous

homage to Sheffield.

Henderson’s Relish

For family members outside of Yorkshire, a bottle of Henderson’s Relish is an absolute

must. While not exactly a small business, it remains family owned to this day with only 3

people knowing the secret recipe. Hendo’s is a Yorkshire institution, made in Sheffield, that absolutely deserves a place on the boxing day table.

If your family are already big Henderson’s lovers, why not consider shopping for some

merchandise featuring the relish, with options ranging from cufflinks to aprons.

Yorkshire Candle Co.

If you have a family member who loves candles, why not get them something locally

made in Yorkshire.

With a large selection of scents from festive gingerbread and sweet amaretto nog, to

smells inspired by popular Yorkshire locations, they have something for everyone who

likes candles. My personal favourite is the Dark roast coffee which smells absolutely

divine.

For people with a more creative side, Yorkshire Candle Company sell candle making kits

(£22) which come in some of their most popular scents including The Yorkshire Dales,

Scarborough coast and Whitby Harbour.

Bear Tree Records

If you’re looking for a gift perfect for a music lover then look no further than Sheffield’s

very own independent record store Bear Tree Records.

Sheffield has a huge music scene whether it is small shows in some of the best venues

or the various artists that have come out of the city, it is a great way to pay homage to

Sheffield in a more subtle way.

If you want to make the gift even more centric to Yorkshire, why not buy a record from

one of the many great bands born here, from Pulp to Bring Me The Horizon, there will be

a record for everyone’s tastes.
