Renoon: The new must-have sustainable fashion app

It all started with a black dress. Or rather, a search for a black dress. After beginning to adopt more sustainable lifestyle choices, Milan-born Iris Skrami decided she’d opt for a sustainable black dress for an upcoming work party. Instead of finding something through a quick Google search, as you might expect, it took her just under two months.

Enter Renoon. The brainchild of Iris and an Amsterdam-based team, Renoon, the shopping platform which last month launched its new website and app, is devoted to bringing customers sustainable choices. Named as one of the top ten most promising FashionTech startups by Prada last year, it’s clear Renoon is one to watch.

Renoon brings together over 200 brands and allows shoppers to refine searches depending on the features they value most. With a focus on responsible consumption, filter options include ‘ethical labour’, ‘lower emissions’, ‘vegan’, ‘black owned’, and ‘women empowerment’.

Iris said: “We believe that style is fundamental, and we want to bring back the pleasure of fashion without the feeling of guilt.

“Changing the world as an individual is difficult, but with the right tools and technology it can get a lot easier.”

She added that her intention was to make shopping sustainably as easy as drinking a glass of water.

Renoon certainly eases the process by offering a range of options for customers, who can shop new or secondhand, or rent clothes. With over a million items and a range of retailers from Stella McCartney to Vestaire Collective, two-month searches look set to become a thing of the past. Be warned though: you might end up obsessed and still searching through the app two months later.

To allow for development, the app is currently invite only, but Liberty Belle has received a code for readers: THEFIRST
