It's time for festive activities

A run down all the festivities to get you in the Christmas spirit!

As the nights get darker, temperatures drop and exam season approaches,

it may be hard to get into that Christmas spirit. But with so many events and

festivities happening, there are lots of ways to get into that cosy, Christmas mood.

Plan the perfect day out at the Sheffield Christmas Market and wrap up warm in the

Alpine Lodge Bar with a mulled wine. Treat yourself to the market’s infamous

Yorkshire pudding wraps, followed by some sugary churros drizzled in chocolate

sauce. Why not make a night of it and go to one of Sheffield City Hall’s Christmas

movie screenings accompanied by a live orchestra? Just imagine watching Love

Actually on the big screen and hearing the orchestral version of ‘God Only Knows’ by

The Beach Boys.

Why not plan a shopping trip with your besties and get some unique Christmas gifts

from some of Sheffield’s best independent stores like Birds Yard, Vulgar, or Within

Reason. Don’t forget to pick out some matching Christmas PJs for a movie night too.

Then top it all off with a hearty English pub meal to fill you up in these winter months.

My personal favorite would be a classic Nottingham House pie.

If you're not afraid to face the brisk weather, enjoy a winter walk in the Peak District

and bring a flask of homemade soup to keep you warm. There are so many ways to

feel festive and snug this winter. Pop on a Christmas classic like ‘The Holiday’ or ‘Elf’

and whip up a hot chocolate with marshmallows. If you’re feeling creative this

season, why not try decorating a gingerbread house or making some dried orange

garlands?

If there was ever a time for a classy gathering, it would be Christmas. Put on a

sparkly outfit and invite your friends around for a wine and cheese or games night. Create some Christmas cocktails and put on all the classic songs to set the mood. After all, Christmas is all about getting together with friends and family and having a good time.

So whether you fancy a festive market, a winter hike, or a friend-filled gathering, try adding a little something merry to your week to get into the spirit and beat those winter blues.
