Harry's Style on tour: A sign of the modern times

On his most recent tour, Love On Tour, Harry Styles has been showcasing many bright and iconic outfits, establishing himself as somewhat of a fashion icon.

Of course his music is the focus, but fans and critics have also enjoyed debating, both in person and on Twitter, about what he will wear next and his looks after they have been revealed.

Styles has become increasingly notable for his distinguishing visuals and engrossing stage presence. But through his striking costumes, courtesy of Alessandro Michele of Gucci, he has successfully made a name for himself in the fashion world.

From vivid button-downs to bright wide-legged trousers, part of his unorthodox and avant-garde fashion, Styles has been able to personify his own bold and charismatic persona.

His style seems to incorporate both the bright patterns and accessories of the 21st century and the colours and styles of the 70s. If you added a few more sequins and tassels, his tour wardrobe would not be that dissimilar to the likes of Elton John and David Bowie.

The way he breaks down conventional gender roles enables him to have an eclectic and unique style.

He received backlash from his cover shoot with Vogue because he was pictured wearing multiple dresses and a skirt. By doing this bold cover shoot, arguably, Styles has helped open up a conversation about masculinity and femininity in fashion.

Along with other artists, he has disregarded previous expectations of gender stereotypes and is contributing to a movement that is paving the way for the fashion industry – where gender is no longer a restriction.

So far, the sparkles, flares and bold colours have thrilled his fans. Let's hope he continues to break the mould, and get bolder and brighter in both his fashion and music.
