Best places to spend a sunny day in Sheffield

As we are entering the warmer months, do you know where you’ll be spending your

summer in Sheffield? Have a look at some of our suggestions to hopefully find some new and exciting places to try out when the sun is shining!

1) Botanical gardens

The Botanical Gardens, located close to Endcliffe student village and Ecclesall Road, is a

great place to meet with some friends and relax on the grass with some snacks and take in

the views of the plants and flowers growing there. Discover more about the history of

Sheffield in the pavilion or simply relax on one of the many grassy areas.

2) Rivelin Nature Trail

If you’re looking to get some exercise in but also take in some stunning views, check out

Rivelin Valley Trail situated North-West of Sheffield. This two and a half mile walk is perfect

for a sunny day with Rivelin Park café proving some refreshment at the end of the trail. It is

free to visit and well worth the journey to reconnect with nature to help destress from uni.

3) Holly Hagg Community Farm

Holly Hagg community farm is a non-profit organisation, popular for its alpaca treks which

run several times a week. These require booking in advance so check the weather and book

ahead of time. Rated the number one activity in 2022 on Trip Advisor, this is a unique

adventure perfect for a sunny day.

4) Peace gardens

Most of us have visited the Peace Gardens before, or unknowingly walked past it, however,

take a moment to sit and people-watch on the steps overlooking the fountains. It is free to

visit and perfect for a break in between shopping or a meeting point for friends.

5) Al-Fresco dining

As the weather warms up, pubs and restaurants with outdoor seating can become very

popular so make sure to book ahead to avoid disappointment. Some of my favourites

include the Bloomery, Turtle bay and Olivia’s outdoor area just off of West Street.
