Best Christmas activities to do with your flatmates

Updated: Oct 8, 2023

The Christmas season is coming! Thousands of twinkling lights will adorn the streets, illuminating the early darkness that comes with the winter. The shops, cafes and restaurants will decorate their showcases with joyful tress, full of shining ornaments.

The festive season will probably be a busy time for students as deadlines will take up a lot of time. However, this could be the perfect time to grow closer to and have fun with your friends. Here are a few ideas to make the Christmas season special.

Christmas Markets

Christmas markets will be set up for all the visitor’s delight. They will captivate people with handmade little gifts, Christmassy figures and candy displayed inside wooden cabins in the streets. As usual, Sheffield has opened it's market to the public, which is the perfect opportunity for a trip to the city centre.

Christmas Films

Christmas films have a big influence, as they restore our hope and remind us

that life is more than our busy lives studying or working. Whether it is a classic film like

‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, or the newest Christmas release on Netflix, it's a great way to get you in the Christmas spirit. Share an evening with friends or flatmates, popcorn and a timeless Christmas film!

Christmas Dinner

University is a time where you will probably meet people from all over the world. It is perfect to learn from friends with different cultures and traditions and make them feel a bit closer to home. Planning an international Christmas dinner to show the culinary delights of your homeland could be the perfect way to celebrate the season with friends.

Ice Skating

A group trip to the ice-skating rink and a delicious hot chocolate afterwards

will never go out of style in Christmas time. Warm, cosy clothes and a cheerful afternoon

on the ice with friends will make memories to treasure forever.

Christmas time is the perfect time to have fun with family and friends and university is a great place to celebrate.
