Why Little Mix are frequent chart-toppers

Once again, Little Mix have produced an album which does not disappoint.

‘Confetti’ finished at number 2 on the charts after just missing out to Kylie Minogue’s ‘Disco’. Having just released their sixth studio album, it is a great time to look back on their achievements and see what makes their music so successful.

Their ability to write empowering lyrics for women, alongside uplifting and catchy melodies, keeps them on the radio time and time again. My favourite example of this is their song ‘Women’s World’ which appears on their fifth album 'LM5'. This song is about encouraging people to look beyond women’s looks and to treat them with more respect. This kind of fight for equality fits right in with the values of today’s society and for me, this is why these talented girls appeal to such a wide audience.

Each of the girls have recently spoken out about issues which have affected them personally, in order to raise awareness. For Jesy Nelson, it was cyberbullying and its impact on mental health. For Leigh-Anne Pinnock, it was her experience of racism, With Perrie Edwards, it was her struggles with anxiety and Jade Thirlwall recently spoke up for the LGBTQ community. These movements prove that the girls are more than just a band and have a purpose outside the music world as role models for young people. This makes them more respectable to others and unsurprisingly plays a role in their success.

Their new album, ‘Confetti’ places more emphasis on the fun element of the band. Jade expressed in an interview with ‘Gay Times’ that 'LM5' was more about proving what the band stood for, whereas this new album is more about having a good time. So, it is clear from this that Little Mix have a song for almost every mood. Whether you are feeling down about a heart break, wanting to feel good about yourself or simply wanting to party, there really is a song for everyone in their collection.

These four girls have risen from humble beginnings through the X Factor and have become the biggest girl group in the world. But evidently, this triumph has not just come from anywhere. Their hard work and dedication to standing up for what they believe in, alongside producing chart-topping hits, are all factors contributing towards their success and I cannot wait to see what they do next!
