What if the Spider-Man films took place in the ‘real world’?

It is safe to say Spider-Man is one of the best avengers to ever exist. Not everyone is a Marvel fan, but Spider-Man is a character most people, the majority being kids and adults who are comic fans, know of.

So that leaves me wondering, how would the world react if he was real?

If he were to exist in real life, there are several ways he would be treated. First of all, people would definitely admire him and his skills. They would possibly even consider him as their role model, seeing him flying high in the sky from all over the place as we so often do on the big screen.

Through the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the famous comics, Spider-Man is portrayed as a life-saving person who at any point in time can reach anywhere with his web slings. He has some of the best combat skills and his hook step is quite impressive. So with all this positivity, why wouldn’t he be fully accepted in the real world?

Well, the government would most likely disagree with the freedom Spider-Man has, as seen in Captain America: Civil War (2017) with how the US government acted towards the avengers by creating the Sokovia Accords. The government would also be quite apprehensive in accepting Spider-Man to do whatever he likes purely because he is so young, but again, how would they know his age when his identity is hidden?

I imagine laws would also never allow Spider-Man to go about his days being a hero. As seen in the MCU, he often unintentionally causes a lot of collateral damage, sometimes endangering citizens. Even though it is very common for the authorities to dislike Spider-Man within the many portrayals of his character, the population as a whole loves him.

Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland have delivered brilliant versions of the popular childhood comic book hero - who knows what else Spider-Man has in store for us!
