The best drag queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK

Updated: Oct 13, 2021

Over the last two seasons, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has showcased some of the best drag talent we have to offer. But besides winners The Vivienne and Lawrence Chaney, here’s my rundown of some of the UK’s best Ru Queens.

Bimini Bom Boulash

When Lawerence Chaney was crowned winner of season two, many fans felt Bimini, one of the first non-binary Queens to appear on the UK version of the show, was robbed.

Showcasing Bimini’s skills in fashion, comedy, music, dance and lipsynching was so important for the non-binary community, and this representation has only grown since they left the show.

Bimini has since gone on to be signed by a modelling agency, walk London Fashion Week, write a book and even released their own single. They are one of the most multi-faceted, daring Queens out there, and they fully deserve to be at the top of this list of talent.

Tayce

Hailing from a family of creatives, Tayce is a dancer, fashion icon and model all in one.

Much like her season two sister Bimini, Tayce has walked runways and been signed to a modelling agency since the show. She has also been on a UK tour alongside Bimini as part of the United Kingdolls, where she dances to music from the likes of Doja Cat - truly celebrating the black creative community.

Divina de Campo

The Vivienne might have suggested that Divina de Campo was just a "red wig and a silver dress", but I think there is a lot more to her.

Since coming runner up of season one, Divina has released solo music and alongside the Frock Destroyers and has taken to the stage in her musical debut as part of Chicago. Not only this, but Divina is also co-owner of Kiki Nightclub in Manchester’s gay village.

Divina clearly supports the local gay community and pushes for representation not just within the realms of drag race but otherwise cis-productions such as Chicago.

Blu Hydrangea

If you are as addicted to TikTok as everyone else at the moment, you will have come across Blu’s wildly successful channel. On this social media platform, Blu posts videos educating viewers about LGBTQIA+ history in full drag. Her videos are engaging, fun and, most importantly, educational.

Although she doesn’t have as many accolades as other queens, Blu plays a crucial role in educating young people on LGBTQIA+ history.

A’Whora

This fashion school graduate did not disappoint on season two’s runways.

Every look was stunning and well crafted, making her one of the most talented seamstresses the show has seen.

Throughout her season, A’Whora also proved herself as a talented performer and has only grown in this respect since the show aired. When I saw the United Kingdolls, her performance as Freddie Mercury was surprising, funny, moving and beautiful all at the same time.

A’Whora is certainly one to watch.

As season three takes to our screens, I can’t wait to see the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent served up by this year’s queens.

I'm so excited to see which queens will be added to my list of favourites.
