The Best Christmas Adverts of 2022

As we’re once again entering the festive season, no matter which TV channel you flick to, you’re bound to be met with a classic Christmas advertisement.

Christmas adverts have become almost like a yearly tradition for most people. When the iconic John Lewis advertisement is released, that’s when you really know it’s time to get your decorations out because Christmas has arrived.

Over the years, these adverts have gone from simply being a way for a store to advertise their products, to a full blown short film production. The bar is definitely set high and people expect a lot from them, they want to feel something after watching.

Here is Liberty Belle’s run down of the best Christmas advertisements of 2022:

When I think of Christmas advertisements, McDonalds doesn’t immediately come to mind, however this year’s is up there with my favourites. Set to Becky Hill’s slow cover of ‘Only You’, It gives off ultimate cosy vibes as we watch a boy write his Christmas list and it seemingly gets longer and longer.

After losing it, his parents ask what was on the list and it turns out he just wanted to spend Christmas with his family. It definitely creates that heartwarming feeling that Christmas is all about and is a nice reminder that it’s not all about the gifts, it’s about who you spend it with.

John Lewis always hit the nail on the head with their adverts, my personal favourites being Monty the Penguin and the Man on the Moon. This year was no exception. The Beginner goes back to basics to pull on your heartstrings. Shining light on the amount of children in care in the UK. It follows a couple who are fostering and the father does everything he can to make sure he can connect with the child through skateboarding. It’s an emotional one so get the tissues ready.

ASDA’s advert this year is iconic and has left everyone talking. Starring no other than Will Ferrel as Buddy the Elf, it’s a nostalgic Christmas dream. Who doesn’t want to see their favourite Christmas movie character applying for a job at ASDA? After all, “the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”

If you want a Christmas advert that’s going to make you excited for Christmas, it’s this one. We start by seeing the main character on a packed gloomy looking bus, then when she puts on her new glasses, she can see everyone's innermost desires. I’m talking about huge bubble baths and festive parties. Then, on Christmas day she buys everyone the perfect gift and the glasses stop working because everyone is truly happy. The feel good factor is through the roof.

So there you have it. Whether it’s an emotional tear jerker or will leave you laughing, there’s an ad for whichever Christmas mood you’re in. I can’t wait to see what else brands will have in store for us as we get closer to Christmas!
