Recently, Glamour’s interview with actress Millie Bobby Brown revealed, much to her fan’s disappointment, that she is ready to say, "Thank you, and goodbye,’” to her iconic role as Eleven in the hit show, Stranger Things. It hardly comes as a surprise that the 19-year-old has outgrown the show, which she started when she was only 12. Engaged to Jake Bongiovi, who popped the question in April of this year and recently a movie producer of the two-film series, Enola Holmes – the actress is growing up, as we all have done alongside the Netflix Original.
The anticipated fifth and final season comes after an explosive fourth season that brought more familiar faces onto our screens, alongside our 90’s queen Winona Ryder, Jamie Campbell Bower (also known for his roles in The Twilight Saga and Sweeney Todd) horrified watchers as Vecna, the antagonist created by the Duffer Brothers. Fans are gearing up for the latest season after an ending that left viewers hanging on the end of their seats.
The series resonates with viewers of all ages, the nostalgic 80s feel of the first season invited a mass following. From the hit soundtrack of songs your father would love, and the iconic fashion trends seen on Nancy Wheeler, Stranger Things rips you away from the present day – and traps you into the early 80s. The lack of technology impacting children’s lives as you see in today’s generation strikes a chord and portrays the friendship between Mike, Will, Lucas and Dustin as heart-warming and sentimental. It’s reminiscent of The Body by Stephen King, more popularly known as Stand by Me, which is hardly surprising due to the all-star author’s complaints over the similarity of the show to his novel: It.
Instead of being wrapped up in TikTok trends and Instagram influencers, these 80s kids are wrapped up in the spooky Dungeons and Dragons board game, making autumn the perfect time for a Stranger Things rewatch. The fifth series is set to arrive on our screens in the summer of 2024 – and we are already restless!
