Miley Cyrus returned to her roots on Friday, hosting a concert special on Disney +. Over a decade after the last Hannah Montana episode aired on Disney Channel, we saw Miley perform tracks from her newest and highly anticipated album, ‘Endless Summer Vacation’. The concert forms part of Miley’s ‘Backyard Sessions’ series, which she started in 2012.

As part of the series, fans can watch Miley perform with her band outdoors. Her performance featured her recent single “Flowers”, which topped the Billboard Global 200 for seven weeks, with the nostalgic favourite “The Climb”, celebrating 14 years since its initial release. Filmed in the same place as the music video for “Flowers”, the 45-minute special also includes an interview with Miley Cyrus herself and a performance with Canadian-American singer Rufus Wainright.

One of the stand-out songs during the concert was ‘River’. The song premiered on the same day as the Disney+-doc, becoming the second single from her latest album. In the interview for the Disney special, Miley spoke about the song herself:

The concert had a very wholesome feel about it. It was a nudge and a wink at Miley's past achievements with the company, which launched her career in the first place while celebrating her current success. Considering how well her recent single is doing in the charts, the performance is certainly a good sign that Miley's music will be around for a while longer.

You can still watch Miley Cyrus’ concert on Disney+.
