'No Room for Racism' – A look into the Premier League’s Anti-Racism Campaign video

The Premier League, known as the top level of English football, recently uploaded this video on YouTube in the fight against racism.

The aim is to use the platform of well-known footballers and the organisation itself to spread the message that there really is ‘no room’ for any form of prejudice in sport and other parts of our society. I believe that using a popular sport shared by many people from all different kinds of backgrounds is a great way to shine a light on important issues. A simple, short video such as this won’t take up much of your time at all, so there is no excuse not to give it a watch and show your support.

You may have seen on your screens, if you are a football fanatic and have managed to view any of the recent matches, at the beginning of each match every player kneels in support of the anti-racism movement. This is another brilliant step forward for the Premier League and hopefully, with more efforts like this one, soon there will be no need for anti-racism videos. This is a simple act taken by all players. So, regardless of your role model or your favourite team, the same message is being put out across the English Football League.

I still believe that more can be done in all forms of entertainment to bring an end to prejudice. The wide accessibility of videos (such as this one) places a large responsibility on the media, celebrities and sport associations to take a stand against immoral behaviour. At a time when the world is struggling to fight against a global pandemic, it is more important than ever to come together, respect one another and be kind to each other.

Entertainment can act as a friendly platform for campaigns such as this one and give them a voice, and this video is an excellent example.
