My Week in Podcasts

I probably listen to podcasts every day. They help me to unwind, switch off and be mindful when I need a distraction. Whether it is a small escape from uni work or a nice accompaniment during my hot girl walks, here is a rundown of podcasts that don’t require too much thinking and give light relief when you really need it:

NearlyWeds by Jamie Laing and Sophie Haboo

In this podcast, Made in Chelsea stars delve into the highs and lows of planning a wedding due to take place this summer in Spain. Wedding planning may not be to everyone’s taste but don’t be put off by these themes, as the majority of the podcast is taken up by hilarious commentary, listeners’ confessions and insight into the celebrities’ turbulent relationships. I find myself laughing out loud to this one as its low-brow, and silly humour make for a relaxing listen.

Favourite time to listen: During the walk to and from uni

Inner Monologue by Olivia Neill

From the chatty and high-spirited influencer, Olivia Neill delves deep into her personal life journeying through her 20s, living the highs and lows of London being in the influencer space. This one always feels like I'm catching up with a friend who has no shame in telling the truth about her day-to-day qualms. Her Irish enthusiasm and chaotic lifestyle add to the appeal, as her stories always make me feel like I'm a fly on the wall during one of her glossy parties or fashion shows.

Favourite time to listen: When attempting to be productive at home - e.g tidying my room or doing the washing

My Therapist Ghosted Me by Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally

This dynamic duo brings all the laughter you could ever want to a podcast. Irish gals, Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally, discuss some of the world’s weirdest news headlines from the week prior and keep us up to date in a catch-up style conversation. Both presenters are extremely quick-witted, carrying the show through with consistent jokes. It really makes you feel like you know them as a listener and keeps you wishing that they were your fun-loving aunts.

Favourite time to listen: When I need to calm down and feel grounded - e.g in busy environments or during a stressful time

Big fish by Spencer Matthews

This podcast is hosted by Made in Chelsea star, Spencer Matthews, accompanied by celebrity guests and major moguls who talk through how achieving their success has always been a rollercoaster. This podcast is a bit more slow-paced and serious compared to my other recommendations. It delves into some hard-hitting topics but also provides some very inspiring stories. My favourites so far have been the episodes featuring Jo Malone and DJ Fat Tony. Just something a bit different with a more formal tone which is great for a proper distraction.

Favourite time to listen: When I can’t sleep.

Saving Grace by Grace Keeling

Saving Grace, presented by infamous TikToker, GK Barry, is a no-filter deep dive into the lives of some rather random celebs. I find myself listening to their interviews as Grace asks all the questions the audience wants but would normally be too embarrassed to ask. She is cut-throat, comical and way too relatable. In particular, I love how outrageous it is. No stone goes unturned when she is interviewing anyone from reality stars to singers and public figures. My most recent listen was her episode with Wayne Lineker, who spoke of his best moments in Ibiza and what life is like to have a small empire on the party island.

Favourite time to listen: Train Journey/Bus Journey/Car Journey.
