Lockdown Skincare Do’s and Don’ts

We may be facing another temporary lockdown and, whilst it’s a good time to ease up on routines, it’s vital to keep in mind that our body still needs to be looked after. Here’s a list of skincare do’s and don’ts that you can (re)practice during the extra time at home.

Do- Improve your water intake: Download apps, print out a checklist or even doodle your water intake in a dairy. Because of the cold weather, the level of water consumed tends to be relatively low. So, now is an excellent time to consciously keep bottles near you and monitor your intake. Moreover, not having to be on the go for your next class is the perfect excuse to ditch your coffee runs and grab your water bottles instead.

Don’t Forget- Skincare: Keep your hands away from your face; indulge in face masks, oil and hydrate your skin regularly, or even try out facial steams. Be sure to remember that skincare does not stop just because your social life is on hold. It will not only help you feel confident and presentable for each day but once we’re out of lockdown…remember it’s going to be Christmas time!

Do- Research..Experiment…Invest: This is the right time to research DIY skin treatments, the pricey products that you’ve been waiting to grab. You can use this time to try out new and different products and, in case things go south, you can deal with any fallout whilst hidden within your room.

Don’t Forget- Hair and body care matter too!: During university classes or a night out, we tend to indulge in many hair treatments. Whether it’s heat or colour, your hair needs care too. Use this time to deep condition and actually brush your hair well. Similarly, it’s essential to look after your body as well. Give yourself a pedicure, sock up your feet, and luxuriate yourself in some bath salts, scrubs, and lotions!

Do- Practice healthy eating: You are what you eat. That being said- you don’t have to forgo the weekly takeout. Keep a tab over the amount of processed foods you consume that can cause acne, breakouts, or even health issues. You have the time now- prepare fresh meals, learn how to meal plan for when university begins, and you’ll also find yourself saving a lot more on the cash!

Don’t forget- Vitamins: Be it the lack of sun, the need for healthy immunity, or to ensure adequate nutrition, it’s easy to forget the importance of vitamins when we’re loaded with coursework. Vitamin C and D are pretty essential to consume to build immunity and prevent fatigue/ weak bones. Be sure to consult with your doctor first before taking any kind of medication.

Hope these tips help you keep your skin pampered and looked after during this winter lockdown.
