The serge of concert cancellations due to COVID-19 began in March 2020, as the pandemic first took hold and governments across the globe placed their nations under lockdowns.
Almost two years down the line, live music is still under fire and now fans have something to say about it.
For some – myself included – the last week has been a rollercoaster of emotions following the cancellation of Harry Styles' UK and European arena tour.
These music lovers took to social media to share their experiences, ranging from TikToks of tears and tweets of praise and understanding.
But why cancel a collection shows when people have had tickets for over two years?
After holding on to the coveted tickets, the statement made by the Harry Styles and his team left people questioning the validity of their reasoning.
One fan on Twitter asked: “You cancel the smaller arena UK shows because of Covid when you’ve just been touring the US for the past three months. Make it make sense fruit man?”
The announcement of a new stadium tour in Europe has also left some asking why he would change to a higher capacity venue if he's concerned about covid, putting more people at risk.
The discussion around Covid-related show cancellations has gained momentum after the singer Adele posted a video of her in tears stating her live “show ain’t ready” due to the ‘delays’ caused by half her crew testing positive for the virus. The shows, originally scheduled to be taking place between February and April this year, have been postponed as a result.
