Feeling Confident With Short Hair

Is it time for a new haircut? Harry Styles seems to think so.

With winter approaching, most of us are wrapping up and keeping warm, but not Harry Styles. Styles lost a few layers and revealed his new buzzcut in an Instagram post for his brand, Pleasing’s new fragrance release. Fans were left torn and upset over the loss of the singer’s luscious locks, but this isn’t the first time he’s had a dramatic haircut. He previously chopped his long hair for his acting debut in the Christopher Nolan film, Dunkirk.

Styles is well known for his hairstyle changes. Fans have even named certain eras of his life depending on his look, such as ‘Long Hair Harry’ or ‘Prince Hair Harry’. But is this reaction over a haircut necessary?

Many celebrity icons have rocked short hair. Whether it’s Florence Pugh’s buzzcut, Emma Watson’s pixie cut or Taylor Swift’s infamous 2016 bob, they’ve changed their looks and have always looked beautiful. Special mention to everyone's favourite short hair inspiration, Frankie Bridge from the girl group, The Saturdays.

With our tans and summer glow fading, why not spice up your look this festive season? Short hair won’t stop you from trying out the newest hair trends, such as butterfly hair clips, space buns or ribbons. Experiment with your look and try a bold red lip or learn how to do eyeliner that suits your eye shape to enhance your features.

Complement this with an off-the-shoulder or roll-neck jumper to stay fashionable and cosy this season. Statement earrings, hoops, chunky necklaces, or pendants will add to your new look and make you feel a little less bare.

If you’re considering the chop, why not donate your hair to charity just like Styles did in 2017? The Little Princess Trust is a fantastic charity where you can donate. The charity makes free real-hair wigs for young people who have lost their hair from cancer treatment or other conditions.

So why not cut it off? Be empowered and have a fresh start this winter by trying something a little shorter.
