The best skincare products to avoid dry 'winter weather' skin

Updated: Nov 24, 2021

It’s finally beginning to look a lot like Christmas! But while we are hyped about the

the holiday season, the cold weather has come to rain on our parade, leaving us not just with frostbite, but also “fish-scale” skin, peeling lips and paper cuts.

If you have dry, sensitive skin, winter may not be your favourite time of the year. However, here are some recommended skin-care products for you to use, that are affordable and

easy to find.

Nivea Lip Balm

This lip balm has slowly become one of the must-have things in my purse throughout the dry season. It might just be the easiest lip balm to find on the market! You can put this on whenever you have chapped lips, leaving your lips staying soft and irresistible. The 'Original Care' flavour tends to be the easiest and cheapest one. Feel free to get the ones with different fruit flavours, but if you'd like to add lipstick above, the original one is good enough.

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Hand Cream

Another essential item in my bag. The unscented, paraben-free (a chemical that increases the chance of getting breast cancer) product claims to keep your hands moist for 24 hours. It will truly save you from countless paper cuts and scrapes. Also, it

can stop your hands from itching and irritating after the frequent use of hand sanitisers. After all, your hands deserve to stay clean and smooth at all times.

Cetaphil Body Cream

If you have dry, sensitive skin, but you hate the thick layer of lotion sticking onto your skin for a long time then you’re going to love this. This body cream absorbs very quickly once you apply it, and it is non-comedogenic (clogging) so it won’t block your pores. Not only

does it prevent our skin from dryness, but it also helps with rashes and irritation.

I would recommend the, 450g jar, it costs about £10, but it is massive, and will keep your skin hydrated throughout the year.

Vaseline

Last but not least, Vaseline. The petroleum jelly consists of mineral oils and waxes,

which is very effective for moisturising and healing minor skin injuries. It is also triple-

purified, so it’s safe to apply it on your face and body. You could apply it on its own,

for example on your chapped lips or skin scrapes. Additionally, you could put a thin layer above any of the products mentioned earlier, if you want the lotion to stay on your skin longer.

There are so many more products that claim they are moisturising, but before using

them always remember to do some research. Maybe ask some friends, family members, or

a doctor. Do a patch test to see if you’re allergic before using any of them. Try out

these recommended products this winter, so the cold won’t bother you in any way.
