Ayllu Box is a new sustainable beauty & self-care box that focuses on promoting natural ingredients, plastic-free packaging and small businesses within the UK.
Unlike many other beauty boxes, Ayllu Box isn’t a subscription box but rather a one-off purchase, allowing you to treat yourself or gift someone who loves a bit of self-care!
Ayllu Box was founded in the summer of 2021 by Natalija, who started out in the sustainable fashion field. However, realising that it wasn’t enough to just change one aspect of her lifestyle, she began to make sustainable switches to her beauty and skincare routine.
Whilst many of the products available on the market were ‘clean’, ‘vegan’ and ‘cruelty free’, the thing that was repeatedly missing was plastic-free or a focus on sustainable packaging in conjunction.
From this, Ayllu Box was born. It focuses on sustainable packaging as well as customisable self-care products, ensuring that all products are not only to your liking but also suited to your skincare needs and routine.
The brand name Ayllu is a Quechuan and Aymaran word that refers to a traditional form of community or a network of families in the Andes.
Each ayllu was self-sustaining, as all members had a responsibility to one another in terms of education, land or trade. The brand is a community in itself and the name matched that. We all have our own part and responsibility in addressing climate change.
Ayllu Box offers three types of boxes depending on which core products you’re looking for. You can then go on to customise the box by choosing extra self-care products.

I was gifted The Everyday Treats Box with the rose bath bomb as well as the sage shell candle as my two self-care products. The cleanser is my favourite product from the box- it takes off make-up so well, especially when used with the reusable pads.
The smell of the box instantly made me feel relaxed and gave a spa-like feel to my bathroom. The box is so well thought out and I love how it is customisable to fit self-care needs.
Since the 1950’s around 8.3 billion tonnes of plastic has been produced - the weight of roughly a billion elephants or 47 million blue whales. Only around 9% of this plastic has been recycled, 12% has been burned and the remaining 79% has ended up in landfills or as litter.
In light of putting biodiversity at its core, Ayllu Box always stands behind being sustainable in everything they do. At first glance some of the packaging for products may look plastic yet is in fact compostable. This occurs on two items- the tea bags and the shell candle. Ayllu Box regularly engage their followers with sustainability facts to spread awareness about plastic pollution and climate change.
