A winters guide to glowing skin

It’s getting cold once again, meaning the sun-kissed skin we loved so dearly is slowly fading away. Maintaining that extra flush we got is now up to us. This can pose a challenge, but there are tips and tricks that can help radiate our skin through these winter months.

Glow Boosting Foods

We’ve heard it all before: but you are what you eat. Your diet is crucial for supporting general well-being, and skin health is no different. Feeding your skin from the inside is the first step in helping it. Eating foods high in complete proteins, unsaturated fats, and complex carbohydrates is essential. This winter, try incorporating foods like avocados, leafy greens, fruits, fish such as salmon and mackerel, nuts, sweet potatoes, and eggs into your diet.

Supplements for Radiance

Supplements provide a quick way to obtain essential vitamins. A vitamin D supplement is crucial for maintaining skin health, directly giving us what we’ll lack from the sun. Omega-3s help lock in moisture, reducing dryness, while vitamin C brightens skin and boosts collagen production. Collagen supplements are another option for improving skin elasticity and hydration.

Skincare Essentials

To combat winter dryness alongside your diet, focus on hydrating and moisturising your skin. Swapping out your current moisturiser for a thicker one helps protect your skin barrier against the cold air.

Adding serums can enhance hydration. Hyaluronic serums are known for their hydrating properties. To encourage a bright glow, look for formulas that contain:

Kojic Acid: Brightens skin tone

Vitamin C: Boosts collagen production

Retinol: Improves skin texture

Niacinamide: Reduces redness and enhances skin barrier

Adding a humidifier can keep skin from drying out in heated indoor spaces, boosting moisture and strengthening your skin barrier. Also, gently exfoliating your skin allows moisture in skincare products to penetrate your skin barrier.

Good sleep, regular exercise, and managing stress are key lifestyle tips, and don’t forget to drink your water—at least 8 glasses a day.

With these adjustments, you can maintain a radiant glow all winter long, ensuring your skin stays healthy and vibrant.
