5 must-see films coming to cinemas this Autumn

Updated: Oct 13, 2021

As the weather turns cold and wet, we’ll all be tempted to cosy up and pass the time with a good film. Luckily, there is an abundance coming out this autumn from the likes of Wes Anderson and Oscar winner Chloé Zhao. Read on to find out our top five film releases that you should check out this autumn.

1. No Time to Die - 8th October

No Time To Die stars Daniel Craig as part of his final instalment as 007, alongside Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux and Naomie Harris. In the long-anticipated action film, Bond is pulled out of retirement by a cry for help from a former CIA contact. The mission to save a kidnapped scientist quickly unravels into something much deeper, as Bond faces the villain, portrayed by Malek, armed with dangerous and new technology.

2. Dune - 21st October

Led by Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Jason Momoa, the cast of this film is enough alone to see it, but the remake of this 1984 sci-fi classic is set for almost guaranteed success after being nominated for Best Film at Venice Film Festival. This is the first film in a two-part series and follows Duke Leto Atreides' dangerous search for a drug that extends human life pursued by giant sandworms.

3. The French Dispatch - 21st October

As the latest release from Wes Anderson, this film follows American journalists working in 20th century France. It promises to be just as aesthetically pleasing as Anderson’s many other works as it brings to life the final collection of stories published in the French Dispatch Magazine, a fictional newspaper based in Kansas. With a star-studded cast, it stars Timothée Chalamet, Léa Seydoux and Saoirse Ronan.

4. Last Night in Soho - 29th October

Written and directed by Edgar Wright, this psychological horror stars Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Matt Smith and Michael Ajao. It follows Eloise, a fashion student with a sixth sense which leads her to embody Sandie, an iconic club singer. As the two begin to merge, past and present fall apart with terrifying consequences.

5. Eternals - 5th November.

Following the success of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals’ star-studded cast promises another box office hit. Directed by recent Oscar winner Chloé Zhao, the heroes are played by Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan and Richard Madden as immortal Gods tasked with protecting the earth.

There are plenty of films to grab your attention this autumn. With options for everyone, from sci-fi to horror to action or comedy, you’ll be munching on popcorn for hours.
